Enjoy a Concert Under the Stars
One of the best summer activities in Alamogordo, New Mexico is the Tailgate Summer Concert Series hosted by the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts. This concert series takes place in the upper parking lot of the New Mexico Museum of Space History. Visit White Sands National Monument
White Sands National Park is the largest gypsum dune field of its kind. It is 275 square miles of gypsum sand dunes that are beautiful to see and explore. Year-round tourists can visit the National Monument and park. The hot days make morning visits to WSNM the best option. Escape to Cloudcroft or Ruidoso
One way to get a break from the warmer temperatures is to head into the mountains. Cloudcroft and Rudiso both offer hiking, mountain biking, shopping, and local eateries. It is always an adventure to head out and check out the local towns and at 8,000 ft elevation, it was also a nice break from the heat.
