Even if your training program already started and you’re staying on base, you can move off base at any time, without any commitment from your current on-base or off-base hotel.  You do not need a non-availability slip because we do not charge more than the on-base lodging rate.

Does Military Crashpad® have a Crash Pad or a PIT Pad? The answer is, we have both! The more technical answer is Crashpads and PIT Pads are the same things with the only difference being their location. Crashpads are fully furnished, all-inclusive rental homes that you rent during your training program. They usually include furniture, utilities, WiFi, cable, maid service, and basic house necessities like toilet paper and dish soap. A PIT Pad is a crash pad but it’s specifically located at Randolph AFB where they have Pilot Instructor Training (PIT). In summation to all of this, a PIT Pad is a Crash Pad located at Randolph AFB and it includes all of the same amenities. Basically, they’re the same thing!

Military Crashpad is owned and operated by military service members and families who are dedicated to ensuring you have the most comfortable experience. You can always expect us to provide you with the highest level of service, delivered with warmth, speed and a strong sense of individual pride. Our goal is to provide you a home-away-from-home and to create a community of support for you and future travelers.

We charge the standard visiting officer quarters rate (VOQ) per month. This is the same rate the base inn would charge you and the minimum rate you’re reimbursed if you’re on orders. This ensures you do not pay an out-of-pocket cost for your lodging.

FAQ: DEFENSE TRAVEL SYSTEM (DTS)

DTS can be a helpful tool or your worst nightmare when trying to get reimbursed for a TDY. As veterans who have gone through this process many times before, we know how difficult and often times frustrating it can be so we have provided this Q&A, and instructions, to help navigate your TDY finance issues.

Having gone through this process many times and experienced the complexities of filing a travel voucher on DTS, we have created an easy to follow visual tool to help you navigate through your own TDY.

DTS Voucher Guide

The Government Travel Charge Card Program (GTCC) provides travelers with a safe, effective, convenient, and commercially available method to pay for expenses associated with official travel. The GTCC includes Individually Billed Accounts (IBAs) and Centrally Billed Accounts (CBAs).

DTS is an online system that automates temporary duty (TDY) travel. It allows active duty, reserves and national guard members of the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps to create authorizations, book reservations, receive approval, generate payment vouchers, and direct payments to their bank accounts and Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC).

Look at the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) website.

http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/index.cfm

If there is government lodging available at the time of your check-in and you choose not to use it then you will only get reimbursed what it would cost to stay on base.

“When adequate Gov’t Qtrs are available on the U.S. installation to which a member is assigned TDY, and the member is directed to use them, and the member uses other lodgings as a personal choice, lodging reimbursement is limited to the Gov’t Qtrs cost on the U.S. installation to which assigned TDY (44 Comp. Gen. 626 (1965)). Per diem cannot be limited based on the presence of ‘nearby’ Gov’t Qtrs (i.e., not on the U.S. installation to which the member is assigned TDY, but another ‘nearby’ U.S. installation or other uniformed facility).”
